Most of the time when a water damage occurs a home owner discovers it immediately or after just a short while. These are usually losses that involve a lot of unwanted water in a short amount of time. That is not always the case though. Often times things such as AC units, hot water heaters, and downstairs restrooms develop a small leak that goes unnoticed. Minimal amounts of water escape and soak into your contents, walls and flooring. Not showing surface moisture, but still doing damage to your home. These go undiscovered sometimes until the homeowner notices their floors or walls molding or even rotting out. By this time the damage is usually significant. That is why it is important to check all appliances and crawl spaces routinely for leaks and unwanted moisture. You want to pay attention to any wet or stained surfaces, mold, and off putting odors.
